Max Walzer is a registered mental health counselor intern in the state of Florida. He graduated with dual bachelor’s degrees in communication and psychology from Florida Gulf Coast University and received a master’s degree and specialist degree in mental health counseling from University of Florida.
Max’s graduate-level internship involved two placements: one where he specialized working with children and adolescents in a school setting and the other where he worked with couples and families. He has experience helping those with presenting concerns, such as anxiety, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. Max is passionate about working with children and adolescents and he strives to provide a space where they can feel understood and supported while still being creative, fun, and interactive. Identifying, expressing, and navigating emotions can be challenging. He aims to help others better understand themselves and build their own “toolbox” to deal with life’s obstacles.
He provides therapy through a multi-theoretical approach, which includes person-centered therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy. Also, he implements techniques from other theories, such as family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, narrative therapy, and play therapy. Max puts the client-therapist relationship at the forefront of his practice. He seeks to understand the unique needs of all individuals to ensure a treatment that best serves their youth development.
